Here is a list of frequently asked questions about ordering a custom wedding cake:
- When should I order my cake? We are often booked many months in advance, so it’s best to reach out 6-10 months before your wedding date.
- Is there a deposit to reserve my date? Yes, a $100 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your wedding date on our calendar. This deposit is subtracted from your final total.
- What can I expect to pay for a wedding cake? Each cake is unique, but our base pricing is $6.00/serving for buttercream decorated tiered cakes and $7.00/serving for fondant decorated tiered cakes. Supplemental sheet cakes are $2.50/serving. Each decorated cake may have a custom decoration charge associated with the design.
- Can I reserve my date without making design decisions? Yes, you can contact us and place your $100 deposit to reserve your date at any time. We can schedule a tasting and consultation when you’re ready to discuss the details.
- Do you offer tastings? Yes, we offer a complimentary tasting for up to 4 guests. Appointments must be made in advance, and you can contact Mia at BCZOrders@gmail.com to inquire.
- What do I need to bring to my appointment? It’s helpful to have your venue, color, and floral decisions prior to our meeting. You can also bring any element from your event that you feel we can draw inspiration from. The design process is collaborative, and we’ll work with you until you have a design you love.
- Can I have a different batter flavor in each tier? Yes, but if you plan on serving slices to your guests at their seats, one flavor option is usually best. If you want multiple flavors, consider having cake slices put out on a dessert table with labels so that your guests can choose their favorite.
- Can I keep the top tier of my cake for my anniversary? Absolutely! We’ll provide a box for you to take it home. Before putting it into the freezer, we recommend wrapping the box with saran wrap. Another option is for us to provide a fresh cake on your one-year anniversary.
- How can I arrange for fresh flowers on my cake? We work directly with your florist to ensure we’re using the same varieties of flowers. The client purchases the fresh flowers, and the florist arranges them onsite after we deliver your cake.
- Should I bring my cake adornments to the bakery? Please let us know what type of cake topper you’ll be using. Some objects may be too tall or heavy to be supported without special arrangements. After we’ve seen the cake topper, it should be left at the reception hall. Please bring ribbon or any special decorations to the bakery on Monday prior to the wedding date. All decorations must be cleaned, assembled, and ready for placement.
- Can I rent a stand from your bakery? Yes! The rental fee starts at $35. You can either return it to us within 5 days of your event or arrange for us to pick it up from your venue for an additional charge. If you’re returning the stand to us, there’s a $25/day late fee beyond the 5-day return policy.
- What is your delivery area? What do you charge for delivery? We’re willing to travel anywhere our cakes can safely be delivered. Please contact us to inquire about a specific location. Delivery and set-up fees are calculated based on the complexity of your cake setup and distance of delivery. We also deliver wedding cookies and all sweet table items for an additional charge based on the amount and complexity of your dessert table placement.
